This 600-hour Apprenticeship program is an intensive education in Western herbalism, leading to a certificate of completion. Students will learn about local plants through theoretical and experiential learning, botanical field study, and medicine making. The apprenticeship focuses on an in-depth investigation of human physiology to understand the complex interactions between the reproductive, endocrine, nervous, skin, muscular, skeletal and digestive systems. Constitutional physiology and the impact of stress are also emphasized.*

Students gain hands-on plant experience …

… in our school garden, …

… through the process of medicine-making, …

… with botanical field study on herb walks, …

… and on four camping trips where students will gain knowledge of medicinal plant communities in California’s diverse microclimates.

Students will complete this program with …

… an individual research paper of the student’s choice, …

… case studies on each body system, …

… and a working understanding of herbal formulation.
